A GREAT DSP IS CALM, CARING, AND COACHABLE
We believe in our team’s ability to be leaders in the field through training, teamwork, and respect. Being a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is incredibly rewarding. But this position can also be challenging.
At AMP, we provide comprehensive training and invest in our team because we know your job is hard.
Being a DSP is not comfort care/babysitting, an easy paycheck or a chance to do the bare minimum. DSPs empower individuals every day through community involvement, independent living skills, medication monitoring and healthy lifestyle routines. To excel in this role, you need to be passionate about working with individuals who have intellectual and developmental (IDD) disabilities, autism, trauma and/or mental health needs.
DSPs are responsible for the following:

Assisting individuals with daily personal care, hygiene, and mobility

Providing social supports to prepare individuals to participate in work, recreation, and social activities

Supporting employment opportunities, including job coaching and job development

Using positive behavior approaches to challenging behavior

AMP provides unique, real-world training that you apply on the job. AMP-designed trainings are in-person, taught by experts in the field, and make staff feel more prepared and confident. Whether you have 15 years' experience or no experience, AMP trainings prepare you for real life in the field.
AMP offers raises and bonuses at every level of national certification for DSP I, DSP II, and DSP III, as well as Frontline Supervisor certification.
AMP utilizes accredited training through the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) E-Badge program, the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and Open Future Learning.
DSP I
This is the first level of DSP-Certified, which direct support professionals can pursue following their attainment of the Code of Ethics Commitment E-Badge.
DSP II
The second level of certification through DSP-II builds off of DSP-I, with more requirements for Core Competency and Accredited Education E-Badges.
DSP III
DSP-III Certification is the highest level of credential that direct support professionals can achieve, representing a deep commitment to the people they support.
